Canon EOS 5D Price Drop in Singapore

Well, as expected, prices for Canon EOS 5D body plunged in Singapore yesterday. Local dealers soiled their previous sterling reputations over the last several months by asking S$6,800 (US$4,000) for what could bought at Amazon.com or in Japan for at least S$1,000 cheaper. Score one for surly local photographers who have been sourcing the camera overseas – and, who wouldn’t?

As of yesterday, local dealers are quoting S$5,800 with a credit card (less 2% if paying by cash) including GST…that’s US$3,410. I am sure dealer-to-dealer competition will drive the price down even farther. Stay tuned!
