Party Harty at Clarke Quay
Clarke Quay was jumping last night with two highly promoted events – V.I.P. Elite’s Meg-A-Blockbuster at Attica and the pre-opening night bash at Ministry of Sound. Both clubs promised the best ambiance, DJ’s, sound systems, as well as deals on alcohol.
Singapore is in the midst of an incredible nightclub buildout thanks in part to relaxed rules on ‘expression’ in Singapore. The new Ministry of Sound, aimed straight at Zouk’s long reign as king of the clubs, boasts 40,000 sq. ft. with a capacity of 3,160 persons. One has to ask whether the city has reached saturation yet. The majority of clubbers are young upscale locals who go out to see and be seen but rarely mix with outsiders. The city still has a long way to go to compete with Hong Kong or Bangkok.
