Pulau Bintan, Indonesia

Beach at NirwanaI have just returned from a nice weekend at the Nirwana Gardens Resort on Bintan Island in Indonesia. I needed to get out of Singapore for a few days and Bintan Island seemed like a good choice.

Bintan lsland is the largest of 3,200 islands in the Riau Archipelago and the 3rd largest of 27 provinces in Indonesia. The island is very close to the equator (Latitude 01.00N Longitude 104.00E) and has a tropical climate throughout the year. You can get there from Singapore’s Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal on a high speed catamaran. The pleasant ride takes about one hour.

In the northern section of Bintan Island is Bintan Resorts, a 23,000 hectare development which was jointly developed by the Singaporean and Indonesian governments. It has 18 kilometres of pristine white beaches and azure waters, nature trails, and golf courses.

Weather was superb albeit a bit hot. That is to be expected new near the equator! You can check out my PBase gallery of photos taken with a Canon EOS 20D, Canon EF 17-40mmL lens, and Hoya circular polarizer. Check out that nice beach!

  1. Hi Robert

I like the picture you have taken with the EOS 20D digital camera with the 17-40mm F4 L lens and Polarizer. The shot is very good. I like the the palm tree and the beach. I too have the EOS 20D. I have bought mind a few weeks ago and I am learning some things about the camera.
