Updated Canon EOS 5D Pricing

Canon EOS 5D Robert has noticed much interest in Canon EOS 5D pricing in Singapore. So I did a quick poll yesterday of the two best known Canon dealers here, Alan Photo and Cathay Photo, and turned up prices for the body only of S$5,600 (US$3,366) and S$5,750 (US$3,456) respectively including GST. While the price you pay might be different, it won’t vary from these prices by much.

For comparison, B&H Photo online is showing a price of US$3,460. For that price, B&H is adding in a Sandisk 4GB Extreme III compactflash card! Amazon’s preferred supplier is Calumet who is offering the body for US$3,199. Of course, you need to add shipping charges and perhaps sales tax for these suppliers.

The B&H and Amazon prices include a 1-year U.S.A. warranty. Perhaps a problem overseas. Canon dSLR bodies sold in Singapore come with a 1-year Singapore warranty (not an international warranty). Hmm… life is complicated!
