Body Armor for the Canon EOS 30D
Made has launched a line of dSLR cases, or “armor” as they like to call it. They are elastometric, skin-tight cases that protect the cameras and lens from nicks and dings in the field. The black Canon EOS 30D version, shown here, provides protection while preserving ergonomic shooting. All controls and access points are still accessible. Corners and lenses are protected by an impact-resistant material. The camera’s LCD is protected by a clear (gasketed) polycarbonate window.
Key features include:
- Ruggedized custom protection
- LCD protection
- Rubberized comfort for ergonomic shooting
- Corners and lenses protected by impact resistant material
- Bonus lens guard will fit most lenses up to 85mm
- Compatible with most tripods and accessories
Each Camera Armor ships with 4 components: Body Armor, LCD Shield, Lens Armor, and Lens Cap Leash. Photokina show reports mentioned that the camera armor will also come with Made’s palm strap and ergonomic shoulder strap. However, this offer is not confirmed on retail websites.
Do you need this extra protection? Not if you shoot weddings, editorial, etc. If you spend a lot of time outdoors either hiking or doing wildlife photography, camera armor could easily pay for itself by preventing cosmetic damage that lowers the resale value of your camera equipment.
Camera Armor is available for other cameras including the Nikon D70 and Nikon D80.
