Canon EOS 30D in Singapore
I have reliable information that the new Canon EOS 30D digital SLR camera will be available in Singapore within the next few days. The ‘body only’ will retail for S$2,350 (list price including GST). You might get it for less paying with cash or Nets. A quick conversion using today’s currency rates gives A$1,951 and US$1,440. The 30D price in Singapore is competitive compared to Centre.net.au or Amazon.com. I expect that the Singapore list price will drop to S$2,300 or slightly less within a week or so after the first batch is sold. This price erosion is normal given the competition between the 3 or 4 pro shops in Singapore.
Most likely, Canon will wait to launch the EOS 30D at the IT Show on March 9th before releasing it to the dealers.
