Canon EOS 30D Raw Conversion
A quick look at the websites of aftermarket raw conversion software companies (Bibble Labs, Breeze Systems, and Pixmantec) found no mention of new revisions supporting the new Canon EOS 30D. Canon just started shipping the camera worldwide at the beginning of March (Australia got it first followed by Singapore and Hong Kong). Bibble is located in the USA while Breeze Systems and Pixmantec are in Europe. Neither of those geographies have received the camera yet.
Today, I exchanged emails with Eric Hyman of Bibble Labs. He requested that I send him several *.CR2 files from my new Canon EOS 30D. Hopefully, there will be a new version of Bibble Pro soon that supports the 30D. In the meantime, we are stuck using Canon’s DPP software that shipped with the camera for raw conversion. Canon’s DPP software does not offer highlight recovery!
Note: The Canon EOS 30D raw files are different enough that they won’t open at all in the current older versions of the non-Canon raw converters.
