Canon EOS 30D Books, DVDs, and Short Courses
The Canon EOS 30D is certainly the best dSLR that I have ever owned. It’s the ideal camera for a freelance photographer. Light in weight (compared to 1-D Series), fast, accepts all EF and EF-S lenses, and puts out a silky smooth image that you can only get from a CMOS sensor. If you have never used a dSLR before or never used a Canon dSLR, the learning curve can be quite steep. Recently, a number of books, DVDs, and short course have been written to speed-up the learning process.
“Canon EOS 30D Guide to Digital SLR Photography” was written by two-time Computer Press Association winner David D. Busch who has
been demystifying arcane computer and imaging technology for PC and Macintosh owners since the early 1980s. He has authored more than 70 books and 2500 articles including “Mastering Digital Photography” and “Digital Photography Solutions” both from Muska & Lipman Publishing. The book introduces the most important features of the EOS 30D, explaining not only how to use them but also why and when. It is filled with full-color images to illustrate results in various settings. The book also helps you enhance your digital photography skills with techniques specific to the EOS 30D. “A Short Course in Canon EOS 30D Photography” by Dennis P. Curtin is a book/eBook package designed to guide you to full mastery of
the feature-rich Canon EOS 30D digital SLR camera. In this clear and easy-to-understand book you’ll see how every control on the EOS 30D affects your images, especially their exposure, color, and sharpness. You’ll learn when and why to use specific settings, not just how to set them. The book is printed in black & white with a spiral binding that lets the book lie flat or be folded back. The accompanying eBook on a CD disc is a printable and searchable full-color version of the same book in Adobe’s popular PDF format. This Short Course is rated 4.5/5.0 stars by users.
“Introduction to the Canon 30D” by Blue Crane Digital is a training DVD that lasts about 110 minutes. The topics are arranged in chapters, so you can move at your own pace, and return later to individual subjects. It can cut weeks or months off your learning curve and give you the knowledge and the confidence to create the images you want. Blue Crane Digital DVD’s are molded from glass masters in the same way that movie studios make theirs. Most commercial DVD’s are individually burned on to DVD-R or DVD+R media the same way you do it at home. This DVD is rated 4.5/5.0 stars by users.
