IT Show – SUNTEC City

Canon Booth Robert went to the IT Show last night hoping it would be somewhat less crowded than on the weekend. It seemed as if half the population of Singapore had the same idea as it was mobbed.

The new Canon EOS 30D was on display in the Canon booth unfortunately with a very mediocre lens. Yup, the LCD sure is big. Otherwise, it’s an Canon EOS 20D with some firmware changes and juiced up electronics. Canon is offering the camera (bundled with a Selphy printer, (2) 1GB CF cards, and an EOS bag) at a show price of S$2,499. Conspicuously missing was the new Canon IXUS 800IS. Not even a demo model could be found. The Canon girls were as friendly as ever and always willing to pose for snaps.

Nothing else much caught my eye except a new waterproof (to 3m) Olympus point and shoot camera, the Sylus 720SW. Totally cool! Also, I did not see any of the new Sanyo 2700 Ni-MH rechargeable batteries at the show. There were a limited supply of Eneloop batteries at the Sanyo booth at (2) for S$16.
