Microsoft X06 - Xbox 360 Event Singapore

Microsoft held X06 in Singapore, October 27th-29th at the corner of the Carlton Hotel and Odeon Tower. Previous X0 events worldwide have been the setting for high-profile Xbox 360 announcements. The Singapore event was held entirely inside 3 geodesic domes that were transparent enough to show game screens projected on walls both inside and outside at night. Also at night, Xbox logos and other messages were projected onto the side of the Carlton Hotel in a very cool Batman style.

Inside the domes, gaming fans were treated to exclusive previews of new games, hands-on experience, and demos of soon-to-be-released blockbuster titles such as ‘Blue Dragon’, ‘Lost Odessey’ and ‘Viva Pinata’. A mini-arcade was set-up where visitors could get a hands-on preview of ‘Gears of War’. There was a demo of TotemBall - the first gesture-based Xbox game. Also, there were minor celebrity guests to help with the contests. Missing were the MTV VJs that MCed the Xbox 360 Launch event held at the Red Dot Museum earlier this year.

Resellers were on hand to allow gamers to buy the latest titles, controllers, and accessories. The Xbox Holiday Bundle (NCAA Football 2005, Top Spin, and a two-month Xbox Live trial) was available for purchase. Tiger Beer had a booth promoting their new Tiger Club Membership card.

All-in-all, it was an impressive event.

Viva Pinata will launch exclusively on Xbox 360 beginning Nov. 14, 2006.

Lost Odyssey is a truly next-generation RPG created by acclaimed artists Takehiko Inoue (Japanese manga creator, made famous by Slam Dunk), Kiyoshi Shigematsu (a famous Japanese novelist) and Nobuo Uematsu (Japanese music composer, known for creating the music for the Final Fantasy series of games). Hironobu Sakaguchi produced the game. He is the creator of the original Final Fantasy series.

Blue Dragon is the upcoming Xbox 360 role-playing game also produced by Hironobu Sakaguchi from his new company Mistwalker Studios.
