New Canon Digital IXUS 950 IS
Another new camera in the Canon IXUS/ELPH series? Yup! Canon has just announced the Canon Digital IXUS 950 IS.
The new Digital IXUS 950 IS is positioned as an upgrade to the popular Digital IXUS 800 IS. Sporting a three-tone metal finish with distinctive curved lines, the Digital IXUS 950 IS comes equipped with an 8MP sensor, a 4x optical zoom lens with Optical Image Stabilizer, and the DIGIC III image processor. Along with faster processing and advanced noise reduction, the DIGIC III processor adds Canon’s Face Detection Technology and automatic Red-Eye Correction for superb people shots.
What else is new? A new special scene mode called ‘Creative Light Effects’ has been added making capturing night scenes more fun. You can select an effect before shooting, then it transforms background bright spots to stars, hearts, music notes and more. Also, the movie mode now allows time-lapse photography.

Still no RAW file format. As with previous IXUS digital cameras, you are limited to JPEGs. This a shortcoming, as Canon users are a demanding lot.
