Eye-Fi Wireless SD Memory Card
Tired of fumbling with cables or worrying about bent pins in your card reader. Beam photos directly from your camera over to your PC using your home WiFi network with Eye-Fi’s wireless SD memory card.
The Eye-Fi card comes with a USB memory card reader to make set-up easy. Included software supports sharing and printing websites, including Fotki, Shutterfly, dotPhoto, Webshots, Phanfare, Picasa Web albums, Flickr, TypePad, Wal-Mart, Snapfish, OX, Smugmug, Facebook, Photobucket, Kodak Gallery, and Sharpcast.
The current offering (photo) is capable of storing up to 2GB worth of photos. The number of photos that can be stored is dependent on the size/resolution of the photos that you are taking. For example, if your camera is set to take 2MB photos, then you can store up to 1,000 photos on your Eye-Fi Card.
Requirements & compatibility
- Eye-Fi Card requires an internet connection to set-up and Wi-Fi network for wireless uploads.
- Eye-Fi Card works with virtually all digital cameras accepting SD memory cards.
- Eye-Fi Card works with 802.11g, 802.11b and backwards-compatible 802.11n wireless networks.
- Eye-Fi software works with Windows XP, Windows Vista, Mac OS X (10.3 and 10.4).
- Eye-Fi software works with IE 6 and 7 (Windows only), Firefox 2.0 (Windows and Macintosh).
Any negatives? For now, the Eye-Fi Card only supports transfer of files in JPEG format. Other files such as RAW files or movie files, remain on the card.
Next, let’s hope they come out with a compactflash version that will work in a Canon EOS 400D, 30D or 40D. And, support transfer of RAW files!
