Control a Canon DSLR with an iPhone or iPod Touch
Most Canon EOS dSLR cameras can operate remotely from a PC or laptop when they’re “tethered” over a USB or FireWire connection. However, the photographer must operate the camera from the computer.
onOne Software is selling a wireless cable release that allows the photographer to control the camera from an Apple iPhone or iPod touch. This is a must-have for remote shooting applications like high or low angles, self portraits, sports, and children.
You can adjust cameras settings, fire the shutter, review images, even get a live viewfinder preview. Both USB and FireWire connections are supported. No internet connection is required! However, the camera must be tethered to a Wi-Fi-equipped computer.
There are Lite (US$1.99) and Pro (US$19.99) versions. The Lite version allows users to fire the camera, see post-view image, battery status, and number of images remaining.
The Pro version lets users remotely control camera settings including shutter speed, aperture, white-balance and other settings. You can preview images over your iPhone or iPod touch, look through the camera’s viewfinder remotely using Live View, use the built-in intervalometer for advanced timer shooting, and lets you adjust quality settings and can zoom in on post-view images.
Both MAC OS X and Windows are supported. And, both versions support Apple’s Bonjour zero-configuration networking to find the camera automatically.
